Rates and Fees
Fees for therapy provided by a M.P.C.C. (Master Practitioner of Clinical Counselling) are lower than the mandated fees charged by a chartered psychologist (as determined by the Psychologist's Association of Alberta). This means clients can get more counselling and access more therapy sessions through Tacit Knowledge than they can when they see a psychologist.
Many insurance/employee benefit programs cover the costs associated with the therapy services provided by Tacit Knowledge. Clients should check with their benefit provider to confirm this coverage before they begin counselling – Tacit Knowledge can provide the client with a letter to assist with this process. If the benefit provider will not cover the fees for therapy, Tacit would be happy to advocate further for the client – the CPCA (Canadian Professional Counsellors Association) is also available to assist with a client’s appeal to their provider once the client receives a written notice explaining the reason for the refusal of coverage.
Counselling fees that are not reimbursed by a benefit/insurance provider can also be deducted on the client's income tax return each year, under health care expenses.
Tacit Knowledge provides direct billing to the following insurance providers: HumanaCare, FSEAP and Aspiria.
Tacit Knowledge is pleased to provide subsidized counselling supports for qualified clients, through the assistance offered by Beaumont Family Community Support Services. Clients can contact Beaumont FCSS directly (at 780-929-1006) to discuss their eligibility (which will be based on their income). This subsidy application process can usually be completed over the phone. If clients qualify, the fee that the client pays is between $20.00 and $65.00 per session.
The fee rates listed below are in accordance with the standards followed by members of the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association.
